Sustainability Spotlight: Resource Highlights

Welcome back to school!
This summer, the Lincoln Public Schools Sustainability Team has been busy brainstorming and creating content for our schools. Having projects and activities that are adaptable and easy for staff and families to do is important to continuing the sustainability culture in our district.
In the For Families tab, we have included information regarding energy, waste and water in the Lincoln community and provided coloring sheets and activities that can be done at home. Updated information in Teacher Resources under the For Staff tab offers educational materials for lessons and online activities. Additionally, on the Green Schools Recognition Program page we have added some exciting, new activities to do with students! Some of our favorites include:

  • T-shirt Bags which requires an old t-shirt and some scissors to make a reusable bag
  • Counting Carbon is an activity that blends math and sustainability
  • Learning Lab activities that offer free lessons and are adaptable to distance learning
  • Air pollution Activity which helps to visualize actions we take and their effect on our surroundings

Be sure to check out all of the website additions and improvements on the LPS Sustainability page!
