Sustainability Champions
School-based Sustainability Champions are voluntary coordinators for green initiatives in LPS buildings. They engage key stakeholders, including principals, custodians, parents, and students to develop and implement these initiatives. Optional quarterly meetings are held to share resources and ideas from the Sustainability Team and fellow Champions.
Principals are responsible for designating their Sustainability Champion via the school representatives list.
The Role of a Sustainability Champion
Sustainability Champions work with LPS students, staff, and families to:
- Establish and support a school Green Team
- Communicate with the LPS Sustainability Department and share messages with their school
- Coordinate participation in the Green Schools Recognition Program
- Engage and support their school in sustainability programs and initiatives throughout the school year
