Custodial Services

Custodians ensure the cleanliness, maintenance and safety of facilities, creating an ideal environment. This is a great fit for individuals who like an active, hands-on role.

 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred (not required).
  • Annual raises and the ability to promote quickly.
  • Knowledge of basic housekeeping practices preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Ability to assist with snow removal required.
Nutrition Services

Food Service Worker

This position involves being part of a dedicated team that works together to provide outstanding meals and friendly customer service at a fast pace, to the students of Lincoln Public Schools. Our customers range in age from birth to 21 years of age. Job duties include all aspects of meal preparation, serving and clean-up. Practical working knowledge of food service and food safety practices and procedures preferred.

  • Shifts last 4 to 6 hours. Most start between 7 and 9:30 a.m. and end between 1:15 and 2 p.m.
  • School days, Monday through Friday.
  • This position is eligible for benefits.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred (not required).
  • Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and frequently lift 25 pounds throughout the day.
  • Positions available across Lincoln. Placement is determined at the time of offer.

Food Service – Manager Trainees

Train to become a kitchen manager while supporting daily meal service. Duties include food production, equipment use, ordering, computer tasks, cash handling and accountability, scheduling, staff training and customer service. Attend department meetings and classes. Serve breakfast, lunch, snacks, Head Start and summer feeding as assigned.

  • Shifts average about 25 hours a week and typically fall within 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • School days, Monday through Friday; summers off.
  • This position is eligible for benefits.
  • Manager trainees start at $19.25 an hour. Temporary role; promoted kitchen managers earn $22.38 an hour.
  • Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and frequently lift 25 pounds throughout the day.
  • Positions available across Lincoln. Placement is determined at the time of offer.

Manager Trainees will start at $19.93/hr. Manager Trainee is a temporary position. When promoted to Kitchen Manager the wage increases to $23.17/hr

Head Cook

Prepare food according to the daily production schedule and approved standardized recipes. Prepare special-diet meals. Follow all HACCP requirements. Work with the manager to ensure sufficient quantities each day. Food safety knowledge is essential. High-volume cooking and proper use/cleaning of food-service equipment preferred. Training provided.

  • Typically 5.5 to 6.5 hours a day, between 6:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.; hours may vary.
  • School days, Monday through Friday.
  • Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and frequently lift 25 pounds throughout the day.
  • Positions available across Lincoln. Placement is determined at the time of offer.
Paraeducators

Assist teachers and support students across classrooms and programs, including early childhood and special education. Responsibilities include classroom and lunchroom supervision, one-to-one and small-group support for students with learning, behavioral, mental and physical needs, school entrance monitoring and general supervision.

  • Shifts range from 2 to 7 hours a day.
  • School days, Monday through Friday.
  • Some roles involve physical activity.
  • Training provided based on position.
  • Education requirements vary by posting.
  • Positions available across Lincoln. Placement is determined at the time of offer.
Transportation Services

Transportation workers ensure students get to and from school safely.

  • Regular route hours: 6:30–9:30 a.m. and 2:30–4:30 p.m.
  • Excellent driving record required
  • LPS provides necessary training at $20.00/hour to obtain CDL license and school bus permit

Salary Ranges

Last year, the Lincoln Board of Education approved negotiated agreements with several employee groups that include salary and benefit increases. The current salary ranges for the employee groups are as follows:

  • Custodial: $20.18-$29.17
  • Nutrition Services: $16.95 – $25.21/hour
  • Paraeducators: $18.00 – $21.50/hour
  • Transportation: Regular Bus Driver Salary – $27.75/hour + benefits, Substitute Bus Driver Salary – $27.75/hour, Transportation Para Salary – $18.12/hour
