Crayola ColorCycle Marker Recycling

Did you know that any school can collect markers to recycle for FREE? The Crayola ColorCycle marker recycling program makes it easy for schools to collect any of their old, dried up markers and recycle them instead of throwing them in the trash!

There are 10 schools in LPS that are registered and have already sent in thousands of markers to be recycled. In fact, almost 40,000 markers have been recycled! There are even more schools already registered that haven’t sent in their first load yet. Registration is simple and shipping is free!

Cavett is leading the way so far with over 15,000 markers recycled since 2014. Eastridge and Kahoa are next in line with over 5,000 markers recycled from each school. The program accepts any brand of plastic marker, and includes dry erase markers and highlighters.

The ColorCycle website lists 4 easy steps to participate:

  1. Engage & Educate: Inform your school administrators or PTO about participating in the ColorCycle Program
  2. Collect & Count: Set up a collection station in your school for used markers. Count up all the markers.
  3. Pack & Print: Pack markers in a cardboard box. Print out a shipping label.
  4. Ship & Smile: FedEx Ground will pick up the markers – Crayola pays all shipping charges! Finally, smile – you just saved the planet!
