Morley and Holmes claim top honors for ‘Beautiful’ efforts

Two schools in Lincoln Public Schools were recognized for their outstanding recycling efforts by the Keep Nebraska IMG_5919Beautiful Awards at their luncheon.

Principal Molly Bates accepted the 1st Place 2016 School Recycling Award and a $50 prize for Morley Elementary for their efforts involved with composting in their cafeteria AND composting paper towel waste from restrooms and classrooms.

Principal Haeven Pedersen accepted the 2nd Place 2016 School Recycling Award for Holmes Elementary for their success with the compost program in the cafeteria which diverts an average of 95% of lunch waste from the landfill each day.

These are just two LPS schools doing great things to reduce their environmental impact and teach their students the importance of environmental stewardship.

Congratulations to Holmes Elementary and Morley Elementary.
