Prescott sets example through green activities

Prescott has been working hard to complete Green Schools Recognition Program (GSRP) events at their school and spread environmental sustainability initiatives. Some of the events they have completed include: having school lessons outside in their outdoor classroom, hosting a walk/bike to school day, growing plants in their school garden, and hosting green team meetings to discuss more green team activities they can accomplish. By completing these sustainability activities, Prescott is not only spreading education and awareness to their students about environmental issues, but they are also getting closer to earning money for their school’s future sustainability efforts!

The recognition program engages staff, students, administrators, custodians, and families by encouraging them to complete activities that reduce the environmental impact of their school. The program is based on the number of points earned by each school and recognizes schools for various levels of achievement. With 100 points earned by doing sustainability based events, the school gets awarded $50. Schools can even earn up to $500 just by completing fun, educational events that focus on sustainable initiatives! Check out the Green Schools Recognition Program for more information and ways to participate.
