Four LPS schools receive environmental awards
Each year, Keep Nebraska Beautiful recognizes various groups and organizations from across the state through their Environmental Awards Program, and we were pleased to see four LPS schools on the list for 2018! These awards were presented on August 23rd at the KNB Annual Awards Luncheon where three of the schools were able to be represented by their sustainability champions. Their green school efforts were celebrated among a network of Keep Nebraska Beautiful affiliate organizations and fellow award winners.
Youth Group/School Award – Secondary
First Place and $50 prize: Mickle Middle School
Sustainability Champion: Katie Hammond, Science Teacher
Youth Group/School Award – Elementary
First Place and $50 prize: Lakeview Elementary
Sustainability Champion: Diane Schneider, 2nd Grade Teacher
Second Place: Everett Elementary
Sustainability Champion: Andrea Jenkins, Art Teacher
School Recycling Award
First Place and $50 prize: Pound Middle School
Sustainability Champion: Anica Brown, Science Teacher
