WasteCap NE names Lincoln Public Schools their 2016 Member of the Year

WasteCap Nebraska named Lincoln Public Schools their 2016 Member of the Year at their annual awards luncheon. WasteCap Nebraska is a statewide non-profit organization that provides education, training and services to help businesses and communities reach their full potential through practices that support economic, environmental and societal priorities. Their mission is to eliminate waste in Nebraska.

The Member of the Year Award is presented to a WasteCap member that has demonstrated loyal support for WasteCap Nebraska through participation in events, volunteering time, treasure or talent, and by utilizing WasteCap member services.

At the luncheon, WasteCap NE commended LPS for their efforts related to construction waste management and school recycling and composting programs. They specifically highlighted the recently updated LPS construction guidelines that increase the minimum waste diversion rate from 50% to 75%. LPS also partnered with WasteCapNE on the Irving Middle School renovation to achieve an 84% diversion rate for that project.
