School Wide Expectations
What:
- 3-5 positively stated school-wide expectations
- Apply to both students and staff
- Rules developed and posted for specific settings
- Rules linked to expectations
Why:
- Creates the vision for successful student behavior
- Helps create consistency within a school building
- Clear common expectations provides a behavior curriculum
- Allows staff to proactively teach successful behaviors, communicate positive messages to stakeholders about success at school, and demonstrate school-wide valued behaviors
Teaching Matrices:
- Tool for teachers to communicate expectations for all areas of the building
- Should be posted in all classrooms
- Effective way for teachers to give pre-corrects to their students
- For example: When it’s time to transition to the Media Center, use the matrix to review those expectations.
