The PSAT Exam is an optional practice test for the SAT and is given each year in October.  The PSAT is also the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Competition when students take it during their junior year.  The PSAT may be taken by highly motivated and academically driven 10th grade students as a practice exam for those who choose to take the PSAT their junior year. Click HERE to find more information on this optional test.

 

What is the PSAT/NMSQT Exam?

  • The PSAT is Optional, not required.
  • The PSAT is an excellent way to practice and prepare for the SAT exam. 
  • The PSAT is used for juniors to enter the National Merit Scholarship competition. 
  • Colleges may try to recruit you based on your scores.

What the PSAT/NMSQT Exam is NOT:

  • Not an entry exam for college programs
  • Not a practice for the ACT
  • Not the Pre-ACT 
    • Pre-ACT is free for 10th graders on Nov. 19th at their school.
