2022 LPS Spelling Bee for Grades 6–8 (Old Version)

The Spelling Bee will resume for its 34th year on February 12th, 2022. Please check back in the coming weeks for more information.

Eligibility of Students

Any student of the Lincoln Public Schools in grades six through eight who will be under the age of 16 on or before the date of the national finals shall be eligible to participate.

The suggested Midwest Spelling Bee Rules will govern the LPS Oral Spelling Bee.

Participating students must have the permission of a parent or guardian and submit a completed registration form to their elementary/middle school office, the LPS English/Language Arts Office or by clicking this link by Friday,  January 24, 2020.

Students need to be at Culler Middle School, check in and be in their seat when the reading of the Bee Rules starts.  Any students that are not present for the reading of the rules will not be allowed to participate. 

Study Tips

You may want to consider getting organized for your study of spelling. Start to compile a spelling notebook. Different sections can feature troublesome word endings, homonyms, troublesome double letter spellings, or specialized terms.
