Apple’s Creative Tools

Apple’s creativity suite (formerly called iLife) comes pre-installed on many Apple devices in LPS. You may encounter the applications Photos, iMovie, and Garageband. Each of these tools has a preferred, supported alternative in LPS.

Photos

USE: Digital Photo Organization & Sharing on staff devices. Not for student use.

PREFERRED ALTERNATIVE: Google Photos is available to staff members for professional use and is preferred because it is backed up within the LPS Google environment.

iMovie

USE: Video Creation

PREFERRED ALTERNATIVE: WeVideo is a full featured, fully supported, cloud based video editing platform that runs well on student Chromebooks as well as teacher laptops. It is available in the LPS Portal.

GarageBand

USE: Audio editing and music composition

PREFERRED ALTERNATIVE: Soundtrap is an industry leading cloud based audio editing tool that is available to LPS students and staff via the LPS Portal. It is fully supported by LPS.

Apple Pro Apps

Apple Pro Apps (Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, MainStage) are not included with any Apple Devices and are not supported by LPS Computing Services.
