Readworks

ReadWorks is a non-profit group that provides texts at a variety of levels. It allows teachers to search for texts/articles by grade level, lexile (readability), genre, or content area. It provides many informational articles in a variety of topics interesting to students. The site also provides “paired texts” which are texts that are put together because of common content. These are good to use when wanting students to compare texts or read more than one text and pull ideas and information from more than one text.

About ReadWorks

Articles from ReadWorks can be assigned to students through the digital platform. Reading comprehension questions can also be assigned with the article. The teacher can differentiate text in the classroom and only assign specific articles to specific students in order to meet their needs.

ReadWorks does not replace the guaranteed and viable curriculum in Lincoln Public Schools. However, it can supplement and reinforce literacy skills. The teacher can search for articles with specific reading comprehension questions tied to skills such as main idea and author’s purpose. This feature compliments the skills that are covered in the reading curriculum.
