ITR006 – Data Center Access Rule
Purpose This Information Technology Rule defines the parameters for access to Lincoln Public Schools data centers. These controls are necessary to provide the required physical security for key infrastructure resources.
Access Lists
Computing Services maintains a list of job positions and individuals authorized for data center access. Changes to this list require approval by the Information Security Office and the Computing Services Infrastructure Coordinator. Staff on this list gain entry to Lincoln Public Schools data centers with their employee badge and a personalized passcode.
Computing Services may also maintain a supervised access list. Staff on this list do not require additional permission as described below for data center access, but do not have badge and passcode access to the data center. Staff on this list must be let in and directly supervised by an authorized employee.
Other Data Center Access
A data center access request may be made via the technology service request system or via phone or email to the Computing Services Infrastructure Coordinator or Chief Technology Officer. Only after approval may the requested access be granted. This access must be directly supervised by an authorized employee.
What does this mean to me?
The LPS data center(s) are the connection points for all of the technology that enables our networks and manages our data. Physical access to these spaces are strictly controlled, for security reasons.
