A reminder: this has become more and more rare, but IF you have any paper ballots that need to be manually added to your totals, please send those to me as soon as possible so they can be entered before the results are announced at 4 p.m.

Checking through schools to see how things were going and was reminded of this question that comes up sometimes…

“I added up all the schools and the number I get doesn’t match the total number. What’s going on?”

The reason for this is that, at LPS, we have many students that attend multiple buildings. Any student at The Career Academy, Bay High, or any of our focus programs also has a home school. The Student Vote results for each school pulls together any students that are assigned to that location. Therefore a student that attends East High School and The Career Academy would be represented in both counts. **BUT** that student is only counted ONCE in the “All Locations” count. Therefore, someone adding up all of the buildings would likely come to a higher number than the final totals indicate.

At only 10:10 in the morning, we are at 10,000 votes cast, meaning that we are at the halfway point of what we expect to be nearly 20,000 votes cast today. It feels like things are going smoothly here. I hope that’s the reality at the schools too!

A reminder to student vote liaisons… you can use the login/password you were provided to view current results at your building at https://lps.org/go/svresults

This should only be used 1) to verify that votes are being cast and 2) to announce your building’s results at the end of the day if you wish to. It should not be shared with students during the day to persuade them to vote to help their candidate catch up or pull ahead.

We are over 2,000 votes cast this morning. Since we usually have around 20,000 votes, that means we are over 10%! Keep Voting! 🙂
