Many things are explained on the procedures page. Check it out first. As new questions come up, I will clarify things there or answer them here. Have a question of your own? Ask it below!
When will practice votes be cleared out?
I will clear the practice votes and you can begin voting for real at 7:00 on the morning of November 2nd.
When does the poll open/close?
The voting system will open at 7:00am and close at 3:40pm.
When I try to login it seems to kick me out. What’s up?
You are likely either trying to login as a staff/faculty member or using an incorrect login password. In order to login to the student vote ballot you must login as 1) a student or 2) a non-lps school using the generic password provided.
I’m at a Non-LPS School? What’s our login/password?
An email will be (has been) sent out to student vote coordinators with this information. A followup message will be going out before the vote to remind folks of this information.
I’m at an LPS High School-Level Focus Program. Can our students vote?
Yes! Just Yes. Focus Programs will be viewable this year. I am recording all locations for all students that vote.
What Else?

Are there certain scripts that elementary schools can use for announcements about voting? If there are not, are there certain things that we could/should have students talk about?

I’d love to help you out with that, but this site is purely concerned with the student vote system/web site and not the instruction/curriculum aspect of it. I recommend emailiing Jaci Kellison jkellis@lps.org with questions about announcements and/or talking points. Thanks!

My students are blocked from accessing the KFOR voters guide. Can Computing Services make that an allowable site?
Brian Fitzgerald 10:34 am on October 28, 2022 Permalink |
I’ll put in a request to Computing Services and see if they can do that. If they are unable to, I will move the voters guide to our own site.

Hello all! Some of you have emailed me about this individually, but here is some guidance/ideas. Feel free to email me directly if you have questions or would like additional ideas! Thanks!
There is not a specific script because the way in which voting occurs, and the extent to which student election commissioners are involved, varies in each building. I think it is best when specific information is provided in announcements for how Student Vote will occur in your building. You could also use the information at the top of this document for some basic information about the history and purpose of student vote: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cKwhQz1bnceazdeQIpasQasIBYGrMWrHXKXhPxUVlCA/edit
Here is some additional information and ideas, and you can determine what best fits your building.
Students might share some facts about voting: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UqgKKJGH4RadKsIKJz19WEZ0pTMeKSgJs6WBrOQDixo/edit?usp=sharing
Students might also share some facts about voting rights from this Voting Rights timeline that goes well with the “hype” video for Day 2: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DVBrzwvOMVm8H4QsS9rHyusI2Wb0_YbtImE39CDeUTs/edit?usp=sharing
Students can do their own research to come up with a list of facts about voting to share on announcements too. World Book Kids (through the portal or Library website) would be a great place for students to look if they are doing their own research.
Rather than sharing facts about voting, students could write a short paragraph explaining why it is important to vote and different students could read their paragraph over the announcements.
