Prairie Immersion

Please contact your front office staff or principal to obtain the most current schedule.

“Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, waterbugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud turtles,… trees to climb, brooks to wade in,… bats, bees, butterflies, pine cones, rocks to roll;… and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best of his (her) education.”       –Luther Burbank

Fourth grade students will experience first-hand the beauty and diversity of our native Nebraska tallgrass prairie this fall thanks to the Hugo Aspegren Trust, Lower Platte District NRD and the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools! Every child should have the opportunity to spend time in places that help them connect to the natural and cultural heritage where they live. This program is the collaborative effort of LPS Science and Social Studies Departments, Pioneers Park Nature Center, and Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center.

BUSES: Arrangements have already been made for buses to pick up your students at 9:30 AM and return them at 2:00 PM. You only need to contact the LPS Transportation Department directly IF you need to request a wheelchair bus.

NOTE: Packets will be sent to schools in early August containing details and requesting class information from your school.
