National Honor Society

Selection for membership in this chapter shall be based upon the four NHS Pillars identified as essential to citizens in a democracy in 1921.

  • Scholarship
Students must first meet this criterion to become candidates for membership.
(Juniors who have a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher through at least 5 high school semesters and a minimum of 150 graded credits)
  • Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student and done without compensation. These community service events must go beyond any required for other clubs/activities/classwork for school. A minimum of 20 hours is required. This can be evidence of service to either the school, the community or both.
  • Leadership
Student leaders are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
  • Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and maintains a clean disciplinary record.
