Tails ‘n Trails Pet Walk & Festival: Our Tails ‘n Trails Pet Walk & Festival is Saturday, May 16th. Lincoln Marathon Litter Cleanup: Keep Lincoln & Lancaster County Beautiful, a program of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, is partnering with the Lincoln Marathon to make the 2015 race a litter free event. Volunteers are needed to pick up litter, recyclables and clothing along the race route after runners have passed. Groups of 3-5 volunteers are assigned a 2-3 mile stretch of the race route and provided with necessary supplies for cleanup. The Marathon is Sunday May 3, and volunteers are scheduled in ½ hour time slots from 9-1:00 p.m. Approximate volunteer time is 1-2 hours. This is a great wellness opportunity for volunteers. All volunteers will be getting physical activity by walking along the race route, will be supporting a community event focused on a healthy activities and will be helping maintain a healthy environment in their community. Volunteers also get a free t-shirt for participating.
Hazardous Waste Collection Volunteers Needed: Saturday, April 25 volunteers are needed to help at Wal-Mart South, 87th & Hwy 2, hazardous waste collection. Volunteer shifts available 8:30-11:00 a.m. or 11-1:30 p.m.
- These events are a great way for the community to dispose of potentially hazardous products commonly found around the house.
- Hazardous waste accumulates throughout the year and it is important to use it up or dispose of it properly.
- Volunteers are needed at these events to direct traffic, conduct surveys, and provide the participants with educational material.

Indian Center Youth Suicide Prevention Health Fair: Please come and volunteer at our second annual Indian Center Suicide Prevention Health Fair. We have included a FREE 5K Walk – Run. Our Theme is “Healthy Families Healthy Kids” focusing on youth to bring awareness that suicide is preventable and access is available. We need help at registration tables from 7-8:30 a.m. to help people register for the 5K and to distribute race packets for those who registered on line. Volunteers are needed for setup, monitoring the walk route, to distribute water at stations, helping with youth activities, and tear down at the end of the day. Head Start Celebration Volunteers: Spring is here, flowers are blooming and Part Day Head Start is having their End of Year Celebration on Saturday, May 9 from 10-1:00 p.m. at the popular Antelope Park, 2740 A Street, Lincoln. Head Start focuses on delivering high quality child development programs while encouraging parents and guardians to become more involved in their child’s learning. Head Start staff establishes partnerships with parents and assist in identifying community support services. The Celebration Festivities include giggles, smiles, hugs, food and fun. We are looking for a few (up to 10) volunteers to help with some of the booths at the celebration. These include: hula hoop, bean bag toss, art booth, food, banner decoration booth and more.

Art Supplies Drive for Prescott Elementary: The Lincoln Arts Council is conducting an art supplies drive. We need supplies for 330 students by Friday, May 1. Estimated cost for supplies is $5/student. We need individuals or groups to organize an art supplies drive at their workplace, office, school, church, etc. Basic, good-quality art tools that encourage self-expression will be distributed to Prescott Elementary students who participate in ART MAKES ME SMART programs this spring. Suggested items include: crayons, markers, colored pencils and sharpener, sketch pads, water colors and brushes, glue sticks, Scotch tape, etc. For many children, these will be the only art supplies that they can call their own. We will send these supplies home with the students in bright green Art Makes Me Smart. Clinch bags provided by ArtFX Screen Printing and Embroidery.
