Reading Graduation Demonstration Exam (RGDE)

Students in grade 9,10,11, and 12 who have NOT met the reading graduation requirement will take the Reading Graduation Demonstration Exam (RGDE) the morning of Thursday, September 27th, 2018.  This will be a LATE START day to accommodate for the testing.

Students who have ALREADY met this graduation requirement will need to arrive on September 27th  for first period beginning at 10:00 am.  There WILL BE an area available for the students who arrive early the day and are NOT taking the test.

Students who are testing will receive their room and test information the week of September 24th. Students and parents are able to see if the Reading Graduation Requirement has been met on Synergy under Course History and then click on Graduation Status in the upper right-hand corner.  Scroll to the bottom of the screen. For families of 9th grade students, the district office will be sending out a message of clarification if your student will or will not be taking the RGDE this fall.

Students will be:

  • encouraged to bring two #2 pencils and a paperback or hardcover personal reading book.
  • asked to turn off their personal electronic devices (including cell phones) and put away during the entire time in the testing space. If a student completes the exam early, there is NO use of electronics – including Chromebooks, the ONLY options are to read a book or sit quietly until the testing time has expired.
  • encouraged to get a good night’s rest prior to testing.

What Not to Bring

Do not bring a cell phone, i-pod, or other electronic device. Any student who has a cell phone, i-pod, or other electronic device out during the RGDE test period will have his/her test removed and marked invalid.

The students taking the RGDE will need to be in their testing room no later than 8:00 am.  The test will start promptly at 8:15 am.
