The College of Saint Mary (Omaha) is hosting summer academies in math, Science and Art for Latina (Sunday, June 12–Friday, June 17) and African-American (Sunday, July 10—Friday, July 15) women entering their sophomore or junior year of high school. The week long residential experiences provide opportunities for young women to meet successful role models of their ethnicity, to meet and make friends in similar life circumstances and to experience life on a college campus. Students live in the college residence halls, eat in the dining hall, take classes and do hands-on science and art work. There is plenty of time for fun, too. All costs are underwritten by donors, but a $25 registration fee is required. Only sixty students will be accepted to each academy.
Application forms are available in the Counseling Center or you can apply online at CSM.edu/LSA (Latina Academy) or CSM.edu/AASA (African-American Academy). For more information, contact Gail Thompson at 402.399.2453 or gthomopson@csm.edu Apply early!!!
