Summer School for High School Students

High school summer school classes in the Lincoln Public Schools have been planned to cover a wide range of course offerings for students grades 9-12. The summer school program provides an opportunity for all high school students to continue their learning during the summer and earn additional credit.

High school summer school is open to students who were in grades 9-12 during the 2020-2021 school year. Students who have received a high school diploma or General Equivalency Certificate are NOT eligible to participate in summer school. Students who are expelled from school are not eligible to register for summer school. All students are encouraged to talk with their school counselor regarding appropriate course selections.

Jobs and Extended Learning Opportunities (JELO)

Is your child looking for a job or other extended learning opportunity? Students can use their Chromebook to check out our electronic bulletin board by going to lps.org and typing in the keyword “JELO”. (Students must be logged in to their LPS Student Portal to view the board.)

Students in grades 6-12 will find information about a wide variety of opportunities available. This includes camps, jobs and internships.

Are you a business or organization wanting to share your opportunities with LPS students?
If so, please enter the information about your program/opportunity here:  www.bit.ly/stujobslps.

Once you submit the information on the form, we will review it to ensure that it fits with our Board policies and regulations before we post it to the JELO site. Once an opportunity is posted, students in all middle and high schools are easily able to access the information through their Chromebooks.

DEADLINE TODAY: Enrolling in the 2021-22 Remote Learning Program

May 7 is the last day families can enroll in the 2021-22 Remote Learning Program. Go to rlp.lps.org for more information.

Changes to match new Nebraska DHM on student self-quarantines

On May 5, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced changes to the Directed Health Measure on requirements for school students who are identified as close contacts to a positive case of COVID-19 in regards to self-quarantine.

Effective immediately, if a student is identified as a close contact with a positive case of COVID-19, they must do the following:

  • Appropriately wear face coverings in public for 14 days following exposure, and
  • Practice social distancing, and
  • Self-monitor twice daily for fever and other symptoms listed below for 14 days and have no symptom development.
  • Please note: if a student is unable to wear a face covering fully over their mouth and nose, they will be required to self-quarantine.

If the student develops the following symptoms within the 14 day period, then they will be required to move into self-isolation:

  • Fever of over 100.4
  • Onset of shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New onset of dry cough
  • New onset of loss of taste or smell
  • Chills longer than two hours
  • Congestion and/or runny nose
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Muscle Pain

If anyone who is self-monitoring develops or has any COVID-19 symptoms, or answers yes to any of the questions above, they will need to stay home and contact their healthcare provider letting them know about a possible exposure to COVID-19 at school.

Lincoln Public Schools will continue to contact families of students identified as close contacts and provide them with instructions on self-monitoring.
