*Bass coming soon*
Helpful Hints
- Use a metronome in the practice room. Using a steady beat helps your rhythmic accuracy.
- Do a scavenger hunt in your audition sheet. Find time signatures, key signatures, accidentals, difficult rhythms/notes, dynamics, bowings, and articulations. Are you demonstrating all of these when you play?
- Play musically. Prepare your music further than, “I can play the correct notes.” Dynamics, Bowings, and Phrasing will be adjudicated, as well as intonation.
- Practice sight reading. It is a skill. Open your book to a new page and try to learn a new song every day you practice for the audition.
- Play with great posture. Poor posture often hurts your chances of playing as accurately as you would with better posture.
