YES Orchestra
About the Ensemble
Founded 39 years ago, the Youth Ensemble of Strings (YES) is one of the extension programs of the Lincoln Public Schools instrumental music department. Students playing in the YES Orchestra can expect to be challenged musically and technically. This year’s orchestra is open to any student, grades 5-8, that are enrolled in LPS for 2nd semester. Students in YES are required to participate in their school’s instrumental music program.
Auditions for the 2025 YES Orchestra will be January 8th and 9th, 2025. Wednesday, January 8th, is violin auditions. Thursday, January 9th, is violas, cellos, and basses. Visit the link above for audition music, suggestions, and to sign up for an audition time.
*As of January 2025, LPS music extension programs will no longer be able to accept students that are not enrolled in an LPS music ensemble. Students who are homeschooled may audition for an LPS All-City Music Ensemble, but must be enrolled and participate in their LPS school orchestra. Visit our guidelines page for more information.
YES Rehearsals/Concert
For those that successfully audition for the 2025 YES orchestra, rehearsals will be Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30pm at Irving Middle School. Our concert is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 at 7pm. This year is even more exciting, as we will perform in concert with both the Junior Youth Orchestra and the Lincoln Youth Symphony. Learn more at 2025 Rehearsal/Concert Information.
