These are essential life skills that support success not only in school, but also in future careers, family life, and citizenship.

Why Prosocial Learning Matters

Incorporating prosocial learning into our school culture:

  • Creates more inclusive, respectful, and responsive classrooms
  • Prevents unwanted behavior by teaching expectations proactively
  • Builds a sense of community and shared responsibility
  • Fosters student confidence, resilience, and positive peer relationships

What It Looks Like in Classrooms

Prosocial learning is integrated into daily routines and instructional time within the classroom. Teachers deliver skills-based lessons that are:

  • Aligned with the PAR (Prevention, Accountability, and Restorative Practices) Behavior Framework
  • Integrated with the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) Core Competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making
  • Connected to skills and behaviors necessary for success both in and beyond the classroom

Our Commitment

At Lincoln Public Schools, every staff member plays a role in developing strong, caring, and capable young people. Through intentional, consistent, and inclusive prosocial learning, we are creating schools where all students feel connected and where every child can build a strong foundation and be prepared for a successful career, lifelong learning, and civic engagement.
