Response Routine
A response routine is a practice or strategy for responding to situationally unwanted behavior.
Staff use the least intensive strategy to support student learning. Educators need a tool kit of strategies, as no single strategy will work for all youth or in all situations. Examples may include:
- Proximity
- Non-Verbal Cues
- Praise
- Reengagement
- Reteaching
- Private Redirection
- Corrective Feedback
- Regulate, Relate, Reason
- Provide Choice
- Processing
- Attend, Wait and Praise
