Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now… Important Quarter 2 Schedule Information and Reminders. If you still have an incomplete schedule (SEE COUNSELOR instead of a class), school counselors will be available in the Student Success Center for walk-in visits only after finals until 11:30 am on both October 9th and 10th. Student-initiated schedule changes will not be possible after the start of the quarter. Weekly Update – September 28

Upcoming Activities & Events. Please reach out if you have questions about any of these events. Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now… September 29th through October 3rd is the 4th Annual College Week at Northwest! Once again, the highlight of College Week will be the NACRAO College Fair held on Thursday, October 2nd. The college fair will take place from 1:30-3:00 pm in the main gym. Representatives from over 50 colleges and post-secondary institutions will be present to share information about their programs. Students in all grades may attend, but must complete the registration form by 3:00 pm on Monday, September 29th. Details have been posted for students in their grade level Google Classroom. The fall deadlines to register for the AP exam and/or dual credit with Wesleyan Honors Academy are quickly approaching (there will be a separate registration window for students who have dual credit classes in the spring). Weekly Update – September 14

Upcoming Activities & Events. Please reach out if you have questions about any of these events. Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now…  There are just a few seats still available for the fall ACCUPLACER test at Northwest next week. If your ACT scores were not quite where they need to be (Math – 17+; Reading – 19+), and you’re planning to attend a 2-year college, this test is for you! The ACCUPLACER is an assessment used to measure your readiness for college courses in reading, writing, and math; scores are used by 2-year colleges (like SCC) to determine placement in math and English courses. Submit the registration form if you would like to participate (grades 11-12 only). Registration closes tomorrow (Monday, 9/15). We also have a limited number of seats still available for the fall ASVAB test scheduled during College Week. The ASVAB is an aptitude test that helps predict future academic and occupational success. This test is not just for students interested in a military career! Any student in grades 10-12 who would like to learn more about their strengths and careers that may be a good fit are encouraged to participate.

2025 PSAT/NMSQT Exam Information

The PSAT/NMSQT exam is an optional practice test for the SAT, which is administered by College Board each year in October, and serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship competition when taken during junior year. The PSAT may also be taken by highly motivated and academically driven 10th grade students as practice for the qualifying PSAT/NMSQT exam to be taken their junior year.  What the PSAT/NMSQT exam IS: What the PSAT/NMSQT Exam IS NOT: OptionalPractice for the SAT Qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship competition (Junior year only) Potential recruitment avenue for colleges, based on score/performance NOT a required exam NOT the same as the PreACT  NOT an entry exam for college admissions NOT taken during the regular school day NOT a free examNOT for seniors The digital PSAT exam will be administered for students who attend any LPS high school at two locations this year – Don Clifton and Lincoln North Star. Any LPS student in 10th or 11th grade may choose to take this optional exam at either testing location. Weekly Update – August 24

Upcoming Activities & Events. Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now…  The rain couldn’t stop Freshman Family Night! Thank you to all the students and families who made it out to join us for this event. If you weren’t able to attend, the presentation has been posted on the LNW CC news feed. The school counseling team will also be at parent/teacher conferences on September 10, if you have any questions or wish to meet you child’s counselor. Beginning next week and continuing through September, we’ll be conducting individual meetings with all freshmen during the school day.  Registration for the optional PSAT/NMSQT opens September 4th. Students who have previously submitted the interest form must bring the required payment for this exam to the bookkeeper during their registration window to confirm a seat for this optional exam. Weekly Update – August 18

Upcoming Activities & Events. The Class of 2029 Freshman Family Night is this Friday!  Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing…  Dual enrollment and/or AP exam registration for fall classes is happening now. If you’re enrolled in an AP or other dual credit class this fall you should be receiving information about these opportunities from your teacher soon, if you have not already. The full list of dual credit classes for the 2025-26 school year can be found HERE. Please contact Ms. Sharpe if you have any questions about these early college access opportunities. Registration for the optional PSAT/NMSQT will also be opening soon. Sophomores and juniors who are interested in taking the optional PSAT/NMSQT in October should submit the online PSAT/NMSQT Interest Form now and then watch for additional communication in early September.
