Explanation
The Nebraska School Counselor Association recently named Scott Middle School counselor Kate Pittack as the 2026 Nebraska Middle School Counselor of the Year. The award recognizes middle school counselors who demonstrate excellence in their profession.
Pittack collaborates with teachers and administrators to support student wellbeing, visits with students helping them celebrate their accomplishments while working on future goals, and collaborates with students and families to work through challenges.
When speaking about her work, Pittack said:
“As counselors, we get to see a unique side of students that is separate from the classroom and are able to help them set goals and celebrate those successes. One of my greatest joys is watching students grow up and accomplish things that they couldn’t have ever imagined. We show up every day to advocate for what is best for students and to make sure every student and every educator feels supported and valued.”
Proposal
That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:
WHEREAS, Kate Pittack, counselor at Scott Middle School has been named 2026 Nebraska Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Nebraska School Counselor Association; and
WHEREAS, Kate Pittack successfully cultivates and nurtures student wellbeing and outcomes by creating a safe learning environment for all students; and
WHEREAS, Kate Pittack works collaboratively with the team at Scott Middle School to address student needs ensuring their success; and
WHEREAS, Kate Pittack is widely admired and respected among her peers both within Lincoln Public Schools and the State of Nebraska;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education
does hereby congratulate Kate Pittack for being named the 2026 Nebraska Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Nebraska School Counselor Association.
