Kristin Vest: Nebraska Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NAFCS) Leader Award

Background

Lincoln Public Schools Family and Consumer Sciences Curriculum Coordinator Kristin Vest was recently honored by the Nebraska Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NACFS) Leader Award. The annual honor is presented to FCS professionals who have made significant contributions to the field through their involvement with both the NAFCS and American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS).

Explanation

The Nebraska Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NACFS) recently honored Lincoln Public Schools Family and Consumer Sciences Curriculum Coordinator Kristin Vest with their Leader Award.

Kristin began teaching in Nebraska in 2007. She joined the LPS Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Department in 2021.

LPS Career and Technical Education Curriculum Specialist Jason Thomsen wrote:

“Kristin has a true passion for family and consumer sciences, which inspires a shared sense of purpose among staff. She is dedicated to supporting FCS teachers and is always willing to go above and beyond to help in any way that she can. With a strong command of FCS content and curriculum, she is able to create a clear vision for the FCS program and is a strong advocate for FCS education.”

Proposal

That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:

WHEREAS, Kristin Vest serves as Family and Consumer Sciences Curriculum Coordinator, and was honored by the Nebraska Association of Family and Consumer Sciences with the Leader Award; and

WHEREAS, Kristin Vest’s positive personality, passion, and strong leadership have inspired colleagues, students, and families across the district; and

WHEREAS, Kristin Vest works tirelessly to provide current and relevant professional development opportunities, strengthen curriculum, and promote collaboration among Family and Consumer Sciences educators; and

WHEREAS, Kristin Vest is a tireless advocate for Family and Consumer Sciences education, ensuring that students have access to meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for success; and

WHEREAS, Kristin Vest is respected and admired for her wisdom, professionalism, and collaborative spirit, and continues to inspire current and future educators;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education does hereby congratulate Kristin Vest for receiving the Nebraska Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Leader Award and for her outstanding contributions to Family and Consumer Sciences education at Lincoln Public Schools and across the state of Nebraska.
