Ashton Krueger: Nebraska International Languages Association 2024 New World Language Teacher of the Year Award

Background

Lincoln East High School German teacher Ashton Krueger was honored as the 2024 New World Language Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska International Languages Association (NILA).The Nebraska International Languages Association is a professional organization dedicated to the support and promotion of the teaching of languages in the state of Nebraska. Anyone who is actively engaged in the teaching of a world language at any level of education in Nebraska is eligible for membership. The organization annually recognizes outstanding Nebraska educators and supporters of world language education at its fall conference.

Explanation

Lincoln East High School German teacher Ashton Krueger began teaching at Lincoln Public Schools in 2023. Ashton was awarded the 2024 New World Language Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska International Languages Association (NILA) at their fall conference. This award is presented to an educator who shows noteworthy promise during their first five years in education.

Northwest High School Spanish teacher Danielle Fulcher said:

“Ashton is an absolute standout amongst even some of our seasoned, veteran teachers. She does not hesitate to share her insightful and sometimes brilliant ideas. I am absolutely thrilled that she won the award. I can think of no one better deserving.”

Proposal

That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:  

WHEREAS, Ashton Krueger, Lincoln East High School French teacher has been named the 2024 New World Language Teacher of the Year; and 

WHEREAS, Ashton Krueger displays a passion for teaching German and is a champion for World Languages; and 

WHEREAS, Ashton Krueger creates engaging lessons that encourage students to explore German and other World Languages; and

WHEREAS, Ashton Krueger is valued, respected and admired among her colleagues, not only at her school, but also across the school district and the state of Nebraska; 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education does hereby congratulate Ashton Krueger for being named the 2024 New World Language Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska International Languages Association (NILA).
