Yulia Evans — 2020 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year
Background
The Nebraska International Languages Association named Yulia Evans from Lincoln East High School the 2020 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year. The Nebraska International Languages Association is a professional organization dedicated to the support and promotion of the teaching of languages in the state of Nebraska. Anyone who is actively engaged in the teaching of a world language at any level of education in Nebraska is eligible for membership. The organization annually recognizes outstanding Nebraska educators and supporters of world language education at its fall conference.
Explanation
The Nebraska International Languages Association named Yulia Evans from Lincoln East High School its 2020 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year.
Lincoln Public Schools Language Curriculum Specialist Kate Damgaard said this about Evans:
“Yulia is a source of creative dedication. From her time of moving from Russia to the Omaha and Lincoln areas, she has brought a world of knowledge to the students she teaches. When Yulia is not teaching she continue to hone her expertise by continuing to learn by obtaining new teaching certificated or attending and presenting at workshops across the United States. Her passion for language and support for students is an asset to Lincoln Public Schools.”
Proposal
That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:
WHEREAS, Yulia Evans was named the 2020 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska International Languages Association; and
WHEREAS, Yulia Evans brings a tremendous amount of creativity to her teaching, which leads to an enriched learning environment for her students; and
WHEREAS, Yulia Evans is nationally recognized for her teaching; and
WHEREAS, Yulia Evans has demonstrated a dedication to students that is a model for her colleagues.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education does hereby congratulate Stephanie Miller for being named 2021 Nebraska French Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska International Languages Association.
