Explanation
Standing Bear High School Principal Sue Cassata was named Region 1 High School Principal of the Year by the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals.
Sue continues to be instrumental in building the traditions as she worked with her team to open Lincoln’s newest high school in 2023 – guiding students and staff to find “The Power of Place”.
Serving Lincoln Public Schools for 34 years, 17 as principal, Sue is an instructional leader who has mentored countless administrators through their educational journey.
East High School Principal Casey Fries wrote:
“Sue is a learner who is always driven by personal growth, she is well-read and she has a very strong understanding of high-quality instructional practices. However, I would say what sets her apart as a principal is her unwavering care and compassion for those that she serves. Her ability to lead with empathy, passion and integrity help to create a culture where everyone feels loved, valued and supported.”
Proposal
That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:
WHEREAS, Sue Cassata serves as principal of Standing Bear High School, and was recently named Region 1 High School Principal of the Year by the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals; and
WHEREAS, Sue Cassata works collaboratively with staff, students and families to build strong connections and relationships within the school community to support individual and collective growth journeys;
WHEREAS, Sue Cassata is a transformative leader who engages in artfully challenging the status quo to effectively connect diverse ideas for the greater good of the educational environment; and
WHEREAS, Sue Cassata has mentored countless principals and administrators from across Lincoln Public Schools through patience and a willingness to engage in active listening; and
WHEREAS, Sue Cassata is valued, respected and admired among her colleagues, not only at Lincoln Public Schools, but also across the state of Nebraska;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education
Does hereby congratulate Sue Cassata for being honored by the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals with the Region 1 High School Principal of the Year Award.
