Kelleen Rosebaugh: Nebraska Association of Teachers of German 2024 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year Award

Background

German teacher Kelleen Rosebaugh teaches at Southeast High School and Schoo Middle School, and was honored as the 2024 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska Association of Teachers of German and Nebraska International Languages Association (NILA).The Nebraska International Languages Association is a professional organization dedicated to the support and promotion of the teaching of languages in the state of Nebraska. Anyone who is actively engaged in the teaching of a world language at any level of education in Nebraska is eligible for membership. The organization annually recognizes outstanding Nebraska educators and supporters of world language education at its fall conference.

Explanation

German teacher Kelleen Rosebaugh began at Lincoln Public Schools in 2016. She currently teaches German at Southeast High School and Schoo Middle School. Kelleen was awarded the 2024 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska Association of Teachers of German and the Nebraska International Languages Association (NILA) at their fall conference.

“Kelleen is an incredible teacher. It is so important for our language programs around the state to have teachers like her, not only because she is an idea machine for all of us as teachers, but because she is the kind of teacher that makes learning fun and inspires kids to join in. Kelleen’s program is growing, and she has found ways to bring German to younger learners so that those learners will join in as they grow. She opens a lot of doors for new language learners!”

Proposal

That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:

WHEREAS, Kelleen Rosebaugh, German teacher at Southeast High School and Schoo Middle School has been named the 2024 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Kelleen Rosebaugh displays a passion for teaching German and is a champion for World Languages; and

WHEREAS, Kelleen Rosebaugh creates engaging lessons that encourage students to explore German and other World Languages; and

WHEREAS, Kelleen Rosebaugh is valued, respected and admired among her colleagues, not only at her school, but also across the school district and the state of Nebraska;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education does hereby congratulate Kelleen Rosebaugh for being named the 2024 Nebraska German Teacher of the Year by the Nebraska Association of Teachers of German and Nebraska International Languages Association (NILA)
