Julie Frederick: Nebraska School Nurses Association 2023 Excellence in School Nursing Administrator Award

Background

In June 2023, Lincoln Public Schools Health Services Coordinator Julie Frederick received the 2023 Excellence in School Nursing Administrator Award from the Nebraska School Nurses Association. The purpose of the award is to recognize the contributions of school nurse administrators who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in the practice of school nursing.

Explanation

Julie Frederick serves as the Lincoln Public Schools Health Services Coordinator and received the 2023 Excellence in School Nursing Administrator Award from the Nebraska School Nurses Association. As Health Services Coordinator for LPS, Julie mentors new school nurses, has updated and conducts training for health office staff, revamped the appraisal process, and continues to support health services staff across the school district.

LPS Health Services Director Wendy Rau wrote:

“Julie is thoughtful and positive in her leadership style. Even during the most stressful and challenging years due to COVID, Julie always has a positive attitude. She was the voice of calm in the COVID storm. Health Services could not have a better role model for our school nurses.”

Proposal

That the Lincoln Board of Education adopt the following resolution:

WHEREAS, Julie Frederick, LPS Health Services Coordinator received the 2023 Excellence in School Nursing Administrator Award from the Nebraska School Nurses Association; and

WHEREAS, Julie Frederick displays thoughtful and positive leadership to school health services staff; and

WHEREAS, Julie Frederick has utilized her experiences and expertise to build and conduct trainings for health services staff; and

WHEREAS, Julie Frederick uses her expertise in data to not only help the state organization but our district programming as well; and

WHEREAS, Julie Frederick is valued, respected and admired among her colleagues, not only at Lincoln Public Schools, but also across the state of Nebraska;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lincoln Board of Education does hereby congratulate Julie Frederick for receiving the 2023 Excellence in School Nursing Administrator Award from the Nebraska School Nurses Association.
