Rousseau teacher, husband share their military story with class
My husband, Matt and I are both Veterans. He is currently in his 18th year of service, while I served for 8 years and was honorably discharged. We deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004-2005, and again from 2009-2010 as motor transport operators, which is a fancy title for "truck driver". We drove the Army's version of semi tractor trailers our first tour of duty, and HETS (Heavy Equipment Transport System) our second tour. Hauling everything from Abrams tanks to ammunition, we were incredibly lucky to only have had one soldier seriously wounded. He went on to compete on the show American Ninja Warrior and is such an inspiration! We are both so thankful for our time spent in the military and all the life lessons and values it continues to teach us.
