Lux Middle School holds annual Veterans Day celebration
On Friday, November 8, Lux Middle School held their annual Veterans Day celebration. Veterans sat up on stage as the colors were presented, and stood and saluted as students joined in with the band to sing the National Anthem and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Commander Jack Riggins with the U.S. Navy delivered the keynote address.
The choir delivered a beautiful rendition of “America the Beautiful”, and the band played the “United States Armed Forces Medley”, as veterans stood for their respective branches.
The event rounded out with a special video message from former U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel.
The students then broke out into small groups to listen to each veteran speak about their experiences in the military.
Principal Dohmen noted this Veterans Day celebration was likely the 20th year of celebration in Lux Middle School history.
