Booklets

When ordering work from the LPS Print Center you have some options regarding the creation of booklets. Booklets are created by folding paper and “saddle stitching” down the fold. Examples of booklets from LPS Print Center

Ordering a booklet

Begin the request for a booklet as you would order any other print job from the LPS Print Center [video tutorial].

Once you are in the order submission page of the web CRD software, you might choose one of the following presets:

 Preset B
A normal letter sized (8.5×11) page folded and stapled into a booklet.

 Preset D
A tabloid sized (11×17) page folded and stapled into a booklet.

Document Templates

While any document submitted can be scaled down and printed as a booklet, this often results in a page with small text and large blank spaces along the edge of the pages. For the result to be more satisfactory you will need to start with the end product in mind.

For help getting started, download one of the MS Word booklet template files listed below. This will give you an accurately sized document to create your booklet in.

About Covers…

  • Presets B & D (see above) include front covers by default. If your document should not have a cover, choose NO COVERS from the drop down menu of the covers tab.
  • When choosing a cover, page one of your document will be used. You do not need to insert a blank page following page one (for the inside of the cover) as this will be taken care of automatically by the software.
  • If your booklet has a number of pages not divisible by 4 (minus the cover), you will end up with blank pages at the end of your booklet.

Tips for More Successful Booklets

  • The only way to guarantee that a print job is going to look as you intend is to request a hard copy proof from the LPS Print Center when ordering.
