Seuferer has been an educator at LPS for 8 years and just last year picked up the role of Sustainability Champion. He quickly became one of our most passionate and impressive champions, leading his school to the largest ever <a href=\"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/sustainability\/green-schools-recognition-program\/\">Green Schools Recognition Program<\/a> point total to date.<\/p><p>His motivation? Getting students engaged with the environment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1b465ca elementor-section-full_width elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1b465ca\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-0bce17a\" data-id=\"0bce17a\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b0165d elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b0165d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>During the 2024-25 school year, Seuferer started an environmental club called <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/class.lps.org\/holmes-elementary-specials\/sustainability-ppps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Prickly Planet Protectors (PPP)<\/a>\u00a0and invited students in 3rd-5th grades to learn about and interact with the natural environment. The club began with only four students but quickly grew to 30 within just a few weeks. Seuferer attributes this growth to the students\u2019 passion and excitement.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cIt became something that was cool,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p><p>The Prickly Planet Protectors\u2019 activities focus on both active and artistic projects. Seuferer emphasizes the importance of getting students physically involved with the environment. Activities listed in the Green Schools Recognition Program and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwf.org\/eco-schools-us\/About\/Who-We-Are\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EcoSchools U.S.<\/a> have benefited the club as well, allowing students to set goals and decide which activities they complete each year. Members of the Prickly Planet Protectors meet with building administrators, promote fundraising drives and take part in hands-on experiences.<\/p><p>This approach has helped Seuferer lead the club to some impressive achievements in their first year.
