They join <a href=\"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/sustainability\/2024\/10\/02\/northeast-kahoa-tree-campus-k-12\/\">Northeast High School and Kahoa Elementary School<\/a> as the only schools in the district to earn this distinction through the Arbor Day Foundation to Campus K-12 recognition can be earned in a variety of ways. The three schools that received the recognition &#8212; Robinson, Southeast, and Holmes &#8212; all took different approaches to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to tree-based learning.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-46f4542 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"46f4542\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-ef06d6b\" data-id=\"ef06d6b\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aeae8c4 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"aeae8c4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Robinson Elementary went the route of <a href=\"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/sustainability\/2025\/04\/30\/robinson-students-plant-50-trees\/\">planting trees in their community<\/a>. Fourth and fifth grade classes worked with community volunteers to plant 50 trees in Lincoln&#8217;s Waterford Park to commemorate Arbor Day 2025. In addition to the planting day, students at Robinson participated in a variety of tree-related activities, including playing the Park Masters board game and learning about the history of Arbor Day.\u00a0<\/p><p>At Southeast High School, students planted trees on school grounds to bring more greenery to the campus. The <a href=\"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/sustainability\/2025\/05\/01\/sustainability-spotlight-clio-baird-southeast\/\">effort was lead by Clio Baird<\/a>, the Vice President of LSE Key Club, who, along with other club members, fundraised for the four trees planted around the campus. This entirely student-led effort demonstrates their strong commitment to the environment and sustainability.\u00a0<\/p><p>Holmes Elementary was the first to earn their Tree Campus Recognition almost entirely within the classroom. Their sustainability club, the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/class.lps.org\/holmes-elementary-specials\/sustainability-ppps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prickly Planet Protectors<\/a>, watched the documentary &#8220;Beyond Trees,&#8221; identified tree species across their campus, toured the Arbor Day Farm on a field trip, and created tree poems and artwork. Holmes staff also created tree-focused lessons and slides for each grade level. Their enthusiastic participation in these activities earned them Tree Campus Recognition!<\/p><p>Tree planting and classroom campaigns are just some of many hands-on experiences schools can carry out in their pursuit of Tree Campus K-12 recognition.
