The Mickle Middle School garden was established in 2010 and is currently thriving. The Mickle garden is home to many unique features, including multiple raised beds, a hoophouse for year-round production, and a pollinator garden installed by the Nebraska Wildlife Federation.<\/p>

Over the years, elements have been added to the garden to add unique educational opportunities for the students and incorporate the broader community. The produce grown serves many purposes including hands-on educational experiences throughout the growing process and the opportunity for families to take food home. The garden is able to give back to the Mickle community and Lincoln as a whole!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Mickle has a garden club that meets to work in the garden once a week in the fall and spring, using winter to plan. Many subjects utilize the space including,\u00a0but not limited to, those taking FCS, Spanish, and Science classes.\u00a0With time spent in the garden, students at Mickle are gaining experience in sustainable crop production, hoophouse management, produce preparation, and basic business operations.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
