Recycle Bowl is a competition hosted each fall aimed at getting students and teachers in K-12 schools excited about reducing their waste. \u00a0This year, recycling totals were tallied up over four weeks and compared among the 720 schools from across the nation who participated in Recycle Bowl. National champions are crowned in only five categories, with LPS schools claiming two of those coveted titles. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wysong Elementary came out on top in Food Scrap Collection. \u00a0During the competition, students and staff composted an impressive 52% of trash, diverting a total of 76% of their waste through efforts in the classroom and cafeteria. \u00a0Huntington Elementary was the winner of Waste Reduction, recording a recycling diversion rate of 69%.
