This brand new building was designed with sustainability in mind, but that all gets put to the test once people actually start moving into the spaces and using them. With the sustainable design of the school and support from students and staff, Robinson has already become a leader of sustainable initiatives this school year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a first time champion, Couton has used the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/sustainability\/green-schools-recognition-program\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green Schools Recognition Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> activities list to generate ideas of ways Robinson can become even more sustainable through student and staff behaviors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Green Schools Recognition Program encourages schools to participate in green activities that help reduce the environmental impact of the school. Activities can be submitted for a chance to earn points and be awarded funding. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the activities completed so far this school year include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water Waste Campaign<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Save a Tree Campaign<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bring Your Own Water Bottle Campaign<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">school-wide composting presentations\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goodwill Donation Drive<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Couton has encouraged student participation for the sustainability efforts by having them collaborate and brainstorm ways to reduce water consumption and utilize bottle filling stations. They created posters promoting sustainable practices and put them up around the school. Looking forward, Couton is excited to continue efforts into the spring. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-95156a7 activities, students and staff are embracing the programs and features available in their new school. For example, they have school-wide composting collection. This means <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">organic materials (food scraps, paper towels, tissues, etc.) are collected from spaces like classrooms, offices, and restrooms in addition to the cafeteria.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-828921e elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-blockquote--button-color-official elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"828921e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\u201cOur whole school composting has been very successful!
