\u201cGreen Team\u201d is a general term used to describe a group of individuals within a school who promote sustainability action and education in their school and their community. LPS Green Teams are a great way to carry out sustainable initiatives at LPS schools and programs.<\/p>

The Green Team serves as a leader in creating a sustainable school community. Green Team members are responsible for coordinating projects and activities to reduce the school’s environmental impact. Student members of a Green Team have the opportunity to learn about, plan, and carry out a variety of projects related to environmental stewardship.<\/p>

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>Who should be part of a Green Team?<\/span><\/i><\/div>

Anyone connected to a school community with an interest in sustainability can join a Green Team! Teams commonly consist of students, teaching staff, families, school administrators, community members, and volunteers. Every school is unique and we see that reflected in Green Teams across the district.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

<\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span>How do I know if my school has a Green Team?<\/span><\/i><\/div>

Your school’s Sustainability Champion<\/a> will be a great source of information about the Green Team. You can also check the Sustainability Dashboard<\/a> to see frequently updated information on LPS Green Teams. You can also keep an eye out for clubs or student organizations that focus on green topics since not every Green Team goes by that exact name!<\/p>

Green Teams at LPS high schools include organizations with names like Eco Club, Feminists for Change, FEWSS Club, Garden Club, Hive Helpers, and NEATure Club, to name a few.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

Your best bet is to reach out to your school’s Sustainability Champion<\/a>. They may be able to provide details about an upcoming meeting, or help you join as an inaugural Green Team member!<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>

Absolutely! No matter how big or small your points-earning activities are, we want to give your school credit. The students of East High School’s Eco Club have stepped up as leaders in their school and their community! The club created a Google Classroom to keep them organized and on track and are using those resources to their full potential. The Students of Sustainability (S.O.S.) Network is a space for\u00a0LPS high school students to connect with each other and share the student-led environmental activities and initiatives already happening at our schools AND explore possibilities for future efforts. There is an annual S.O.S. Summit that is free for all students to partake in! The Students of Sustainability (S. O. S.) Summit is an annual gathering of LPS high school students that have an interest in environmental sustainability efforts.\u00a0<\/p>

This year, the summit is took place on March 24th, 2026<\/b>\u00a0from\u00a03:30-6:30 pm<\/b>\u00a0at the\u00a0Science Focus Building<\/b>!<\/p><\/div><\/div>
