Good Citizen Initiative

The guiding principle of the Good Citizen Initiative is that all students who graduate from Lincoln Public Schools should be able to demonstrate actions that represent a citizen who understands the importance of personal responsibility to preserve our democratic ideology by being an engaged citizen.

The Good Citizen Initiative is an opportunity for students to not only learn the practical applications of their studies, but to also become actively contributing citizens and community members through the service they perform.

Through the Good Citizen Initiative, students will have opportunities at many grade levels to practice engaged citizenship.  For example, in elementary and middle school, students explore questions such as, “How can I make a difference?” In high school, students complete a Civic Action Project in their freshman social studies classes.  As seniors, students complete a capstone service-learning project in their Government & Politics class.
