Embryology

Information and Schedule for the 2020-2021 School Year

Three embryology sessions will be offered during the second semester of 2020-2021 as indicated below. Session times are being rotated every year to minimize travel, to reduce expenses, and conserve time for the presenters. Scroll down to see the schedule for this school year.

Incubators: Each 3rd grade classroom should have an incubator to store at its school for use with the embryology unit. Teachers are responsible to calibrate, clean, and store incubators. Each school should have a special thermometer to calibrate incubators as well as directions for its use.

Presentation Option: Each teacher will have the option of EITHER having a brief combined-classroom presentation when their eggs are dropped off OR receiving a video to show to students prior to the candling demonstration.

Chick Pick-up: All chicks must be picked up on the same day for delivery to farmers. It is important that teachers are prepared for this pick-up. This day cannot be changed.

Additional Information: The University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension in Lancaster Office will contact schools before the end of the first semester.
