Dual Credit is a partnership between LPS, Southwest, and local colleges/Universities. Courses are taught at Southwest, by Southwest teachers deemed qualified by the partner institution. Participating teachers must apply and be hired as adjunct professors for the partner institution. Students are concurrently enrolled in high school and college and receive credit toward graduation from both institutions. Southwest offers several courses concurrently with the University of Nebraska, Nebraska Wesleyan, and SCC.
If you are a student on free/reduced status there is money is available to help pay for classes through the ACE Scholarship!
The University of Nebraska provides high school students with many chances to earn college credit.
The two options available to Southwest students are:
1. College Courses through the Nebraska Now program. Students enroll at UNL and attend courses on the university campus that are taught by UNL faculty. The grade earned in the course will be the grade recorded on their UNL transcript.
2. Dual Credit courses taught by Southwest teachers who have applied to, and been hired by UNL. The grade earned in the course will be the grade recorded on their UNL transcript.
