Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now\u2026 Sophomore family night was a success! Students and families who were unable to attend last week are welcome to view the presentation and reach out to your school counselor if you have any questions. We\u2019ll also be available to visit with families during parent-teacher conferences on November 10th. Course planning for the 2026-2027 school year is now underway. All current sophomores have already met with their school counselor to continue exploring strengths\/interests and update their Synergy Course Plan. Resources for sophomores have already been posted in their Class of 2028 Google Classroom. Beginning the week of November 10th, we\u2019ll be working with current freshmen on the course planning process, and then resources will be posted in their Class of 2029 Google Classroom. Families are an important part of this academic planning process, so now is a great time to ask your child about their college\/career plans, or continue exploring at home, and look over their Course Plan in Synergy ParentVUE (use a computer for the best viewing experience). Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now\u2026 We are currently seeking students, parents, and other community members to join the first-ever Lincoln Northwest School Counseling Advisory Council. The purpose of the school counseling program is to prepare students for successful futures, by providing access to information and resources related to academics in high school, college and career planning, and the continued development of skills that promote positive social interactions. Through communication and collaboration, the school counseling advisory council (SCAC) will help ensure that our program continues to be relevant, responsive, and effective in serving this purpose. Members of the SCAC will receive more information about our program and be asked to provide feedback and insight into what Northwest students and families need to navigate the high school experience and be prepared for what\u2019s next. The SCAC will meet twice annually (fall and spring); each meeting will be approximately 30 minutes. Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now\u2026 September 29th through October 3rd is the 4th Annual College Week at Northwest! Once again, the highlight of College Week will be the NACRAO College Fair held on Thursday, October 2nd. The college fair will take place from 1:30-3:00 pm in the main gym. Representatives from over 50 colleges and post-secondary institutions will be present to share information about their programs. Students in all grades may attend, but must complete the registration form by 3:00 pm on Monday, September 29th. Details have been posted for students in their grade level Google Classroom. The fall deadlines to register for the AP exam and\/or dual credit with Wesleyan Honors Academy are quickly approaching (there will be a separate registration window for students who have dual credit classes in the spring). If your student is currently enrolled in an AP class and wishes to participate in the AP exam next spring, please review the AP Exam Registration Information and Testing Policies document that was shared in August for details. Seniors, here are the top three things you should be doing right now\u2026  There are just a few seats still available for the fall ACCUPLACER test at Northwest next week. If your ACT scores were not quite where they need to be (Math – 17+; Reading – 19+), and you’re planning to attend a 2-year college, this test is for you! The ACCUPLACER is an assessment used to measure your readiness for college courses in reading, writing, and math; scores are used by 2-year colleges (like SCC) to determine placement in math and English courses. Submit the registration form if you would like to participate (grades 11-12 only). Registration closes tomorrow (Monday, 9\/15). We also have a limited number of seats still available for the fall ASVAB test scheduled during College Week. The ASVAB is an aptitude test that helps predict future academic and occupational success. This test is not just for students interested in a military career! Any student in grades 10-12 who would like to learn more about their strengths and careers that may be a good fit are encouraged to participate.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The PSAT\/NMSQT exam is an optional practice test for the SAT, which is administered by College Board each year in October, and serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship competition when taken during junior year. The PSAT may also be taken by highly motivated and academically driven 10th grade students as practice for the qualifying PSAT\/NMSQT exam to be taken their junior year.  What the PSAT\/NMSQT exam IS: What the PSAT\/NMSQT Exam IS NOT: OptionalPractice for the SAT Qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship competition (Junior year only) Potential recruitment avenue for colleges, based on score\/performance NOT a required exam NOT the same as the PreACT\u00a0 NOT an entry exam for college admissions NOT taken during the regular school day NOT a free examNOT for seniors The digital PSAT exam will be administered for students who attend any LPS high school at two locations this year – Don Clifton and Lincoln North Star.
