{"id":8301,"date":"2018-02-09T07:44:36","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T13:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.lps.org\/ehscounseling\/?page_id=8301"},"modified":"2025-06-20T09:53:27","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T14:53:27","slug":"nhs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/ehscounseling\/nhs\/","title":{"rendered":"National Honor Society"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Selection for membership in this chapter shall be based upon the four NHS Pillars identified as essential to citizens in a democracy in 1921.<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scholarship<\/strong><br \/>Students must first meet this criterion to become candidates for membership.\u00a0<br \/>Juniors who have a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher through the fall semester of their junior year will receive an invitation via email to apply for NHS.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Service<\/strong><br \/>This involves voluntary contributions made by a student and done without compensation. These community service events must go beyond any required for other clubs\/activities\/classwork for school. A minimum of 5 hours is required. This can be evidence of service to either the school, the community or both.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership<\/strong><br \/>Student leaders are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors.
