This is especially useful on computers that do not have a DVD drive (like the teacher Macbook Air laptops.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"screensteps-content\">\n<div class=\"screensteps-steps\">\n<div class=\"screensteps-step\">\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<p>Note that not all DVDs allow for this process. While most DVD will work fine in a disk image as shown in this tutorial, as they say in the commercials&#8230; your milage may vary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"screensteps-step\">\n<h4>1. DVD Drive<\/h4>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<p>Most modern laptops do not have a DVD drive. Load the DVD<\/h4>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<p>Begin by loading your physical DVD into the DVD drive. Launch &#8216;Disk Utility&#8217; (<strong>Applications &gt; Utilities &gt; Disk Utility)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<p>Open the application on your Macintosh called Disk Utility. Create a New Image<\/h4>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<p>Find your DVD listed in the left column of the Disk Utility window. Monitor Disk Utility Progress<\/h4>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<p>The disk utility application will begin the process of making a virtual copy of your DVD. Expect the process to take some time (potentially an hour or longer, depending on the amount of data stored on the DVD). Double-click on the .cdr file to see the same contents you would see if you had the physical DVD. Find &amp; Use your DVD.\" width=\"572\" height=\"452\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"screensteps-step\">\n<h4>Opening Movie (VIDEO) DVDs<\/h4>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<p>If this was a DVD movie that was intended to be played in a traditional DVD player, you will just see contents like what is shown in the folder above. There should be <strong>_TS<\/strong> folders for AUDIO and VIDEO. You cannot open these files directly.<\/p>\n<p>To view this movie,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure the disk image is opened<\/li>\n<li>Launch the &#8220;<strong>DVD Player<\/strong>&#8220;application found in the Applications folder on your Mac.<\/li>\n<li>In the File menu for the DVD Player application select &#8220;<strong>Open DVD Media&#8230;<\/strong>&#8221; and locate the <strong>VIDEO_TS<\/strong> folder inside the virtual DVD disk image.
