As students view the video, the questions will appear at each designated place, where they must answer the question before continuing with the video. If the video you would like to use is already located in your account, you may proceed to the next step on \u201cCreating Your Embedded Questions.\u201d If not, follow the instructions below to upload your video.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Log into MyVideoSpot\u00a0from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/cs\/2016\/08\/08\/the-lps-portal\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LPS Portal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><strong><i>Upload<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the menu toward the top of the page.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have four options for uploading your media content: to drag-and-drop a file from your computer, to paste a link from YouTube or Vimeo, to paste a link from another hosting website, or to upload content from your Google Drive account. Select the option that best fits your needs.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will be prompted to define the attributes for this media. You may choose to edit the name, add a description, change the thumbnail, determine the video\u2019s playback options, upload closed captioning text, or add tags. Most importantly, you will need to set the Media Permissions for the video. The default setting here is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Private<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so if you would like students to have access to it, you will need to change the permissions to either <\/span><strong><i>Public<\/i> or <i>Group Only<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Group Only<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> setting to be successful, you will also need to add the media to a particular group, the controls for which are just a few lines down from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Media Permissions<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Under <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add to Groups<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you may select from a list of pre existing groups. If you have not already defined a group for your students to join and would like to, you will need to follow a separate set of instructions, found <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/home.lps.org\/cs\/2016\/10\/10\/myvrspot\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After defining the permissions for your video, select <\/span><strong><i>Update<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the bottom of the page. Your uploaded video should now appear on your <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Home<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> screen.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9bfb3d6 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"9bfb3d6\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-ed0ce8c\" data-id=\"ed0ce8c\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-51a8f49 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"51a8f49\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Creating Your Embedded Questions<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21adfc9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"21adfc9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once your video is available in&nbsp;<\/span>MyVideoSpot<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you can begin creating your embedded questions through the SmartSpot feature.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From your MyVideoSpot&nbsp;homepage, click the <\/span><strong><i>SmartSpot<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> menu item toward the top of the page, then <\/span><strong><i>Create Quiz<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Note that even though MyVideoSpot&nbsp;uses the term \u201cquiz\u201d to describe this feature, you may use it without engaging the assessment component of it.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the media that you would like to embed questions in, create a title, and write a description (optional). There are several additional options that are important to consider: can the students take the quiz multiple times, or just once? Can they view the correct answers after completing the quiz? And should they be able to resume a quiz if it was not completed?&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you have established the parameters for the quiz, identify a start and end date for the quiz. Quizzes without a start and end date will begin immediately and will not expire. With these attributes now defined, select <\/span><strong><i>Create Quiz<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To populate your quiz with questions, you can either add new questions or import existing ones. A question has four types that you can choose from:&nbsp;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fill in the blank: the response a student enters must be an exact text match to what you have identified as the correct answer, and the answers are case insensitive. You may need to provide multiple versions of the correct answer to account for the different ways that students might respond. There is no maximum to the number of correct answers, so include as many as you deem necessary. As an example, if a question asks who the 16th President of the United States is, you would want to provide both Lincoln and Abraham Lincoln as a correct answer. Since the answers are case insensitive LINCOLN or lincoln would count as being correct. Results are automatically graded.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multiple choice: with this type, you will need to include at least two possible answer choices and only one answer can be correct. For more choices, merely select <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add Answer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Five answer choices is the maximum. Results are automatically graded.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">True\/False: provide the statement and then define whether that statement is true or false. Results are automatically graded.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open answer: for this type, results are not automatically graded. You may view students\u2019 responses to your question from the Quiz Report.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For both new and existing questions, it is important to identify when the questions appear in the video\u2019s progression: at a particular point, or after it has ended. To display the question at a particular spot, identify the point (in seconds) when the video will stop and the question will appear. You can also drag the playhead of the video to that point and select <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use Current Playhead Time<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Once you have completed these steps, add the question to the quiz (for a new question, click the button that reads <\/span><strong><i>Save Questions and Add to Quiz<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and for an existing question, select the button <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add Question<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you finish adding questions, click <\/span><strong><i>Publish Quiz<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the upper-right-hand corner to activate the embedded questions.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5db1ba7 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5db1ba7\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8f9aa07\" data-id=\"8f9aa07\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-de459a1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"de459a1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Sharing Your Video<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8ee3b9b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8ee3b9b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For students to access the media and respond to the questions you created, you will need to share the video with them.\u00a0<\/span>MyVideoSpot<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0generates a unique URL for sharing content <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">within<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>MyVideoSpot<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and another URL for sharing <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">outside<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of\u00a0<\/span>MyVideoSpot<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Follow the directions below to locate both of these links so that students can access the content.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From your MyVideoSpot\u00a0homepage, find and click on the video that you would like to share with students.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will be directed to a page with a large preview of that video, some descriptive information on the video, and a field where discussion may take place. Just below the preview of the video, you will see options to \u201cShare this video.\u201d Select the <\/span><strong><i>Link\/Embed<\/i><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> option.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the window that pops-up, you will find two links: a link to share your video inside MyVideoSpot\u00a0(at the top), and below that, a different link to share the video outside MyVideoSpot. If you are expecting students to first login to MyVideoSpot\u00a0in order to see and interact with the content, you will want to copy the first link. If you are sending the link to students via email, pasting it into a Google Doc, or making it available in Google Classroom, you will want to copy the second link.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The third option, also available in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Link\/Embed<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pop-up window is to embed your media.
